Only a matter of time

The Murray River is the biggest river in Australia. The river mouth, where the river flows into the sea, is about 100km away from where I live. Well... where it used to flow into the sea. The river mouth has closed over with silt. The river doesn't even reach the sea any more. The lower lakes are drying up. The soil is becoming acidic and poisonous; jetties that used to take people to their fishing boats now stand above cracked dry soil.

For 100 years, people have been taking water out of the river, thinking the water would never run out. Well... it's running out. It's actually happening.
